Ray recently retired after more than 25 years as a firefighter/paramedic with Dallas Fire Rescue. He also served as a Dallas Fire rescue Chaplain for four years where he did everything from hospital visits, officiating weddings to onsite fire detail and crisis management supporting 2,000 members of the department and its retirees.

Shane is a Veteran who started his military career in the US Marines before joining Army Special Forces as a Weapons Sergeant and most recently retired from the 19th Special Forces as a Team Sergeant. He has had multiple combat tours with the Army in both Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as worked as a contractor for various US Government Agencies. He has previously served with Dallas Police Department and is currently with the Rusk County Sheriff's Office.

Courtney has been with the SPCA for more than a decade in roles that include managing the Animal Care Center, emergency response and surgery technician. She is the President of the Dallas County chapter of Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster where she has used her disaster response and shelter skills to set up numerous shelters and help countless animals. She is also the President of the Dallas County Animal Response Team and has a pet cow named Newton.

Laurie has been with Rockwall Police Department since 2004, and has served as patrol officer, field training officer and is the first female member of the SWAT Containment Team in Rockwall. Laurie is also Rockwall Police Department’s domestic violence detective and Crime Victim Liaison where she helps fight for victim’s rights.

As a lifelong North Texas resident, Jeff had a successful career in banking before joining the Dickey's Barbecue Pit Family more than 10 years ago. In addition to supporting his local Garland Chamber of Commerce and Habitat for Humanity, Jeff is also a member of the Garland Citizen Fire Academy and tirelessly supports local first responders.

Lupe Valdez has worked in law enforcement for more than 40 years, most recently serving as Sheriff of Dallas County. Lupe was elected to four terms as Sheriff and served from 2005-2017. As Sheriff, Lupe addressed conditions at county jail facilities, including overpopulation and health concerns of mentally ill inmates. Prior to becoming Sheriff, Lupe worked to protect the lives and property of American citizens at home and abroad as a captain in the U.S. National Guard and as a federal agent. Sheriff Valdez was a candidate for Governor of Texas in 2018 .
